Disappointed with my Camera or should it be the Operator?

I have googled, read manual, played with settings until I'm blue in the face but no luck...I did get this one last night that was a bit neat...bummer the power line was in the way tho

I changed modes/settings so many times, I haven't a clue what I had it set at this point
